Karis Lovechild is caught up with a ‘Playa’ on her latest release, with the chilled production of Dexter Brandon orchestrating this silky, smooth jam. The two Atlanta artists paint quite a picture with Brandon’s lush keys and crisp drums allowing Lovechild to float over the track with her sweet falsetto. Lovechild states ‘I toss, and I turn but I can’t sleep without you’ in her opening verse but, not one to be played with, the chanteuse later asserts ‘I’m over it’ and ‘found your replacement’. ‘Playa’ is a welcome reminder for us all to appreciate just what we’re worth. -Christian St. Croix
